Tara Tranum

Co-Founder/Executive Director

Tara Tranum left her home town of Bristol, TN when she was 17 years old with no desire to look back. Saddened and disappointed by her surroundings, she wanted to make a better life for herself and her family. She worked extremely hard to "break the mold" and become successful in a larger city - and she did.

On September 4th, 2016 Tara received a call from her sister Jessica in the middle of the night with news that their father had been in a horrific motorcycle accident. Tara rushed to Bristol Regional Hospital praying that she would make it in time to see their father & hoping for a miracle. Less than 24 hours later, their father, Joe Tranum, passed away.

Tara and her sister experienced a "double loss" when their father passed away - the physical death of their father, and the brutal reality that they actually lost him more than 10 years earlier to the wrath and vicious cycle of addiction.

Now residing in Atlanta, GA, Tara found her life's purpose through that tragedy in 2016. Tara has been involved with charities and community support since she was a young child but little did she know that in due time she would start her own charity to help save her family and her community back home. No matter how badly she did not want to return, her father's abrupt passing left her no choice.

It was time for Tara to acknowledge and embrace where she came from, turning this tragedy around and focusing on making Bristol better. Armed with this knowledge, Tara and her sister founded Ride for Recovery - a 501c3 foundation. Tara is the Executive Director/Founder of Ride for Recovery, created in honor of their father Joe. It is no secret that there is an epidemic within our community related to drug addiction. It hinders our youth, our culture is diminishing, and our families are being destroyed.

Tara is committed to addiction recovery and support – Ride for Recovery's vision is to help raise awareness in the community to break the vicious cycle & rally against addiction. Ride for Recovery's fundraising mission is to build a new clean, safe & healthy Recovery Home in Bristol.
