"Sometimes in tragedy, we find our life's purpose."

Ride for Recovery, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, was started in 2017 after Joe Tranum passed away from a motorcycle accident.

While the accident was a tragedy in itself, the real tragedy was that Jessica & Tara Tranum lost their dad more than 10 years earlier due to the cycle of addiction. The epidemic we are suffering within our community related to addiction and drug abuse is unacceptable.

Dealing with their father’s loss and the facing the sad truth that they truly lost him a long time ago was extremely tough for Jessica and Tara. They were lost and at times, questioning their father's love for them. Children should never have to feel that way. God then led Jessica and Tara to what they called "post traumatic growth", and they were determined to use their situation to help others.

Ride for Recovery's mission is to speak up & speak out, raise awareness in our community and support addiction recovery. After researching resources in our community we were heartbroken to find that our community is in dire need of additional resources. Ride for Recovery is here to bring positivity and community engagement back to the Tri-Cities.

"The mentality and behavior of drug addicts and alcoholics is wholly irrational until you understand that they are completely powerless over their addiction and unless they have structured help, they have no hope."

We can no longer turn our backs, and we must stand together to change the image of addiction and support those who suffer directly as an addict, and especially those who are connected to the addict whether it be a family member/friend/mother or father/or child. This foundation will honor our Father and will allow us to stand up as a community to Break the Cycle & Rally against Addiction.

Together, we can #MakeBristolBetter.
